Some of my absolute favorite pieces in my closet are the most simple classic things. I could live in a striped shirt and jeans. When I found these at H&M I was so excited because together they were barely $50.00, and I knew I would get so much use out of them. I used to have a really hard time shopping at places like H&M or Zara because I never really felt satisfied with my purchase. I would see other people wearing the clothes and think they looked amazing, but never really felt like it translated on me. Over the years I have kept on trying and have figured out some tricks when shopping at stores like these. Here are my top three tips:
1: Look for natural fabrics { Example: Cotton, Silk, Rayon, Linen, Viscose, Denim} Avoid polyester, or anything to “slippery”} The more natural the fabric the better it will look on, and wash and wear over time.
2: If it doesn’t fit, don’t buy it. There are so many times because I love a good deal, I just wanted to buy an item and try to make it work. But I have learned to pass if the item doesn’t work immediately.
3. Buy basic colors and neutral prints. Usually when I shop at H&M I look for pieces in black, white, grey or any other neutral. They do some great stripes and denim too.
Great points! Especially about the fabric content.
Also, when you reduce it to that criterion, you’re choosing among dozens instead of hundreds of items!
